The Power of Positive Thinking
Something that has benefited me over the years has been becoming more aware of my own internal dialogue and the words I use when speaking.
This wasn’t something I was able to do overnight… and it’s not something that always comes easy to me when I’m in the heat of a moment.
However, I was determined to learn how to be in control of my thoughts, feelings and actions. There was always a reason why I was doing the things I was doing AND in doing them I felt my feelings were valid.
However when focusing on the end goal and knowing that feelings come in waves, I realized it only takes one time to get swept in the heat of the moment and everything can change.
Just as fast as things can change for the worst they can change for the better as well!
Lets dive into practicing mindfulness.
Mindfulness seems to be the most popular skill when it comes to dealing with Mental Health, however when it feels like you have to heal a pain you did not ask for, life can all in one become unbearable and not worth experiencing.
By putting the art of awareness and positive thinking into what I call a mental diet, it has really helped me to shift my thoughts and feelings when certain thoughts and emotions arise. I enjoy simplicity and at no point do I want this information to feel overwhelming. The main takeaways are in bold :)
Mental Dieting
With any new lifestyle change you always want to remain gentle with yourself. If you have found yourself in a place where you want aspects of your life to shift… the last thing you need is to be put down or talked to harshly by yourself. Often times we are just repeating patterns that we have observed or experienced in life.
Just a reminder: the power to change your life is yours, even if you don’t feel like that in the moment.
Take a moment to find gratitude in how far you have already come and the obstacles you have already surpassed. I can imagine there was a time when you thought the impossible wouldn’t happen and here you are! Like all healing, it takes place in stages, below are two steps to begin your journey of Practicing Awareness.
the art of practicing awareness
Starting Your Day Right
Begin each day by focusing on something you genuinely enjoy. This simple action can set a positive tone for the day and a mental reminder for how you want to feel. By prioritizing your own happiness and well-being from the start, you are affirming the value of self-care and personal fulfillment in your daily routine. What you enjoy should be cherished and if it matters to you then it’s important. Whether it's savoring a cup of your favorite coffee, taking a peaceful morning walk, or indulging in a few pages of a good book, the intentional acts of mindful self-care can set the tone for a balanced and fulfilling day.
Start your day by telling yourself
“I am going to have a great day today”
Randomly throughout the day tell yourself
“Today has been a really good day”
If something makes you smile or laugh say
“Thank you”
This may seem small however that kindaaa is the point.
The more you affirm to yourself these positive phrases, the quicker they will become your automatic thoughts when you’re feeling down.
End the Day with Gratitude
2. Let’s say today was not so great and you may have found yourself spiraling into a pattern of negative thinking. Instead of using that energy to dwell and sit in the feelings of shame, despair, fear, anger or pride.
Step into the vibration of courage and optimism.
Try to believe that by simply speaking positively over your life, regardless of what is before you, your life will begin to shift and change before your eyes.
One day something that would have really bothered you won’t even phase your anymore.
Before you drift off to sleep or as you are preparing for bed affirm
“Tomorrow is going to be a great day”
Let love lead the way.
